Inep during the administration of Anísio Teixeira (1952-1964)
Abstract
The present text contextualizes Anísio Teixeira's administration as director of the Instituto Nacional de Estudos Pedagógicos (Inep), based on the report of activities entitled Ação do Inep e Centros de Pesquisas
no qüinqüênio 1956-1960. This document was published in 1962 in the Revista Brasileira de Estudos Pedagógicos (RBEP). Initially, the text integrates the educator to a generation of public men who articulated Brazilian educational renewal with national reconstruction through democracy. It then discusses the objectives and the institutional structure of the Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Educacionais (CBPE), an agency created within Inep, dedicated to research, to professionalization of the teaching profession and to improvement of the quality of public education, and which was the stage for the main actions presented in the report that encouraged the writing of this brief contextualization.
