Created in 1981, Em Aberto is a quarterly monothematic publication aimed to stimulate and promote the discussion of current and relevant issues to Brazilian Education, offering differing opinions or confronting points of view. 

Its main audience comprises of the academic community, professors, educators, and students.

This journal is structured according to the following sections, which must present a diversity of texts, including articles with research data, others pertaining to theoretical issues brought up by the theme, and articles of literature review.  

Focus – It deals with the main issues on the theme, being the text that steers the publication.  

Point of View – It favors the different perspectives on approaching the theme.

Open Space – It presents comments, interviews, and other texts that cannot be considered articles.

Reviews – It presents a critical analysis of works that deal with relevant aspects of the theme.

Annotated bibliography – It presents a bibliographic survey on the theme.

Each thematic issue is under the responsibility of a Theme Editor and manuscripts can be submitted only after the Editorial Committee approves the proposal for a theme issue. For detailed information, see “Authors Guidelines”.
